In Catching the Aura of Fate!, Raihan was seen in Hammerlocke, preparing for his upcoming World Coronation Series match with Ash. The match occurred in the following episode, taking place at the Hammerlocke Stadium. After a challenging battle, Ash was able to best Raihan in the season's last entrance battle, granting him a place in the Masters Eight.
In Thump!! The Gazing Sage, when Henry arrived at the Hammerlocke entrance, Raihan challenged him to a battle and beat him. He explained that due to him constantly losing against Leon, he was in need of material of himself being victorious in battle to post in the social media. Afterwards, he took Henry to the vault, where they found Sonia being attacked by a wildOranguru. When Sonia explained that it had started attacking her after she had accidentally stepped on its fan, Henry figured out that it was mad because the fur on its fan had gotten messed up. After he had tidied up the fan with a brush, Oranguru calmed down and even asked to be caught by Henry, which he agreed to. Afterwards, they entered the vault and examined the four tapestries present there. After rejoining with Casey and meeting Opal, Henry traveled to Stow-on-Side with them.
In Rising!! Opal of Ballonlea, Bede was in Hammerlocke after Chairman Rose had revoked his Gym Challenger status, receiving a letter sent for him by Opal just as a big quake shook the city. In Stealth!! Infiltrate the Energy Plant, Raihan managed to convince Leon into focusing his attention on protecting the civilians while he investigated what had happened, sneaking into the Energy Plant. He was soon found out by Chairman Rose, who explained the quake away as a failed experiment, although Raihan didn't buy it.
After Sonia had been attacked on Route 7, Leon took her and the pilot of her Flying Taxi to a hospital in Hammerlocke in PASS24. Once she could talk again, Sonia told Leon how she had overheard Chairman Rose talking with Sordward and Shielbert about their plans to bring about the Darkest Day.
In PASS25, following Chairman Rose starting the Darkest Day, a pair of Interviewers started a live broadcast from Hammerlocke to cover the event, soon noticing Eternatus flying down from the sky. They were then approached by Sordward and Shielbert, who revealed Eternatus's identity to them and presented themselves as descendants of the heroes who had once defeated it in the ancient past. Later, most of the Galar Gym Leaders, Henry, Casey, Leon, Sonia, Hop, Marnie, and Bede pursued them to the Energy Plant, where they encountered Chairman Rose, who let them observe a live feed of Sordward and Shielbert battling Eternatus on the tower summit. When the two brothers failed to defeat Eternatus, Rose challenged it himself, but was defeated as well, leaving it to the Gym Leaders and their allies to battle the Gigantic Pokémon. During the battle, it transformed into its Eternamax form.
The Gym Leaders were eventually defeated by Eternatus, following which Zacian and Zamazenta joined the battle. In PASS30, when the Hero duo attacked Eternatus, the three Legendary Pokémon, along with Henry and the Rusted Sword and Shield, disappeared in a brilliant flash of light. While the people who had been injured the worst during the battle were being treated at the Hammerlocke hospital, Casey reviewed the Drone Rotom footage of the battle, noticing that Henry and the artifacts had actually disappeared moments before Eternatus, which led her to figuring out that he was likely teleported away by an unseen Pokémon.
In PASS35, the antidote for Eternatus's poison was shared amongst the people recovering in Hammerlocke, though its side effect caused everyone's hair to grow to drastic proportions.
In PASS41, Eternatus was revealed to have reappeared at Hammerlocke, with a group of Gigantamax Pokémon having gathered around the stadium to protect it. A group of Sordward and Shielbert's supporters tried to demand the two's release from prison, but Oleana refused to accept their demands. With Henry, Casey, and Marvin's own Gigantamax Pokémon defeating the Pokémon guarding Hammerlocke and Bede's Gigantamax Hatterene forcing Eternatus down from the clouds, Zacian and Zamazenta were able to reach and defeat it. Following Casey's pleads, Macro Cosmos agreed to leave Eternatus free in the hopes of people learning to coexist with it. While the press tried to praise Henry, Casey, and their friends as heroes, Casey, Leon, and Piers gave that honor to Zacian and Zamazenta instead, not wanting to risk more people like Sordward and Shielbert coming about by starting to label more humans as heroes.
Hammerlocke has the fewest stores than any other city in the Galarregion, with just three: the cafeteria, the salon, and the boutique.
As seen from afar, the city is shaped like a flying dragon, with the entrance being the head, the platforms forming its wings, and the castle towers resembling its tail.
As mentioned in the city slogan, the appearance of Hammerlocke takes its inspiration from Medieval architecture.
It is possible that Hammerlocke University is based on either Cambridge or Oxford University; both prestigious institutions founded in the Middle Ages.
