Ground-type Pokémon:

Characteristics

Defensively, the Ground-type is mediocre. it is weak to Water, Grass and Ice-the other of the three key atacking types. It resists Posion, a rare offensive type, and Rock. It is Electric immune, a great advantage due to the minitory of Pokémon resisting Electric-type moves that are not Electric-types themself, and the lack of a X1/4 resistiance to Electric up to now.

Offensively, the Ground-type is one of the three most important attacking types, together with Ice and Fighting. It is the onlt type super-effective against Electric, and is super-effective against five type-together with Fighting, more than any other type in the game. It is also super-effective against the best defensive type-Steel. Grass and Bug-type do resist Ground, but many of them lose their Ground resistiance due to part Poison-typing. The greatest disadvantage of the Ground-type is that it does not effect the very common Flying-type at all, nor Pokémon with the Levitate trait.

Quite expectedly, Ground combines very well with the Ice-type, as Ice covers Grass and Flying, while Ground covers Rock, Steel and Fire. Ground and Rock, such similar types, also work very well together, Rock covering Ice and Flying while Ground covers Steel; up to now, only Claydol, Flygon and Breloom resist both Rock and Ground. Most Ground-type are able to learn Rock-type moves, for that need. No Pokémon up to now resists Ice/Ground/Rock all together besides Bronzor and Bronzong with the Levitate trait, making Mamoswine a top-tier OU Pokémon by all opinions, a great step forward from RSE's Piloswine.
