Gravity (Japanese: じゅうりょく Gravity) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Gravity causes the field to undergo intense gravity. This effect lasts 5 turns.

During intense gravity, all Pokémon have their accuracy stat multiplied by 5/3.

Intense gravity causes all Pokémon on the field to become grounded. Grounded Pokémon lose their immunity to Ground-type moves due to their Flying type, Levitate Ability, effects of Magnet Rise or Telekinesis, or their held Air Balloon. Grounded Pokémon are now also vulnerable to Arena Trap and entry hazards; Poison-type Pokémon that are usually airborne will remove Toxic Spikes when switched in during the effects of Gravity. Grounded Pokémon also become affected by terrains.

Intense gravity also prevents Pokémon from using the moves Bounce, Fly, Flying Press, High Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Magnet Rise, Sky Drop, Splash and Telekinesis. If a Pokémon is in the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Bounce when Gravity is used, that move is canceled immediately. Using Grav Apple under intense gravity increases its power from 80 to 120.

In Generation V only, due to a glitch, if Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop, Gravity will bring the user of Sky Drop down, but the target of Sky Drop will be stuck unable to move in the semi-invulnerable state until the effect of Gravity ends, the user of Sky Drop switches out or is knocked out, or the Pokémon affected by Sky Drop is knocked out. This can only occur in Double and Triple Battles. In later Generations, both user and the target are properly brought down.

If powered up by a Psychium Z into Z-Gravity, the user's Special Attack stat is raised by one stage.

Using G-Max Gravitas will induce intense gravity as well.

In Explorers of Time and Darkness and Sky, Gravity is a move with 10PP. The move intensifies gravity for the rest of the floor, causing Flying-type Pokémon and those with Levitate to become grounded, losing their immunity to Ground-type moves. This effect also prevents the use of Bounce, Fly, Splash, Jump Kick, High Jump Kick and Magnet Rise, bringing Pokémon out of Fly and Bounce, and ending Magnet Rise's effect early. This move is affected by Taunt.

In Super Mystery Dungeon, the floor condition now increases accuracy of moves like in main series, as well as disabling Telekinesis, Sky Drop and Flying Press, on top of the other moves. Additionally, Pokémon with flying movement type lose it.

Description

Games Description
MDTDS Changes the dungeon floor's status to Gravity. A floor under the influence of Gravity makes Flying-type Pokémon weak to Ground-type moves. Also, those with the Levitate ability lose immunity from Ground-type moves.
