Plot

Shu is so happy about just having caught a Poliwag that he's doing nothing but sending it out and calling it back...all the way through the night and into the morning. Pikachu is not amused. Eventually, he scolds Shu for wearing out Poliwag and declares that he's going on without Shu. As Pikachu walks away, Shu tries to stop him...but suddenly, Pikachu starts moving backwards.

Pikachu is just as surprised about this as Shu, when suddenly a Diglett pops up from under Pikachu and Pikachu tumbles over. Shu is immediately ready to capture it and Pikachu is happy to help, but no matter how fast Pikachu is, the Diglett just keeps popping back underground and reappearing elsewhere. Frustrated, Pikachu uses an Electric attack, but it doesn't work. Seeing this, Shu realizes that Ground types are strong against Electric types...but they're weak against Water types, and so he turns his gaze on a reluctant Poliwag.

Pikachu has resorted to throwing pebbles at Diglett, but Shu calls him aside to discuss a strategy. His plan is for someone to go underground to prevent Diglett from moving around so much. Shu will use a mallet to knock Diglett unconcious, and Poliwag will finish it off with Water Gun. Of course, this means Pikachu is the one who has to go underground, and he's not happy about that. Despite his reluctance, Pikachu crawls around Diglett's tunnels for a while, but it's not working, so he pops up from one of Diglett's holes...only to have Shu knock him out with the mallet.

Shu immediately apologizes to the unconscious Pikachu and doesn't notice that Diglett is coming closer, and closer...until it's under his foot, and it pops up, sending Shu rocketing into the air. The Diglett then sets its sights on Poliwag, who cowers before it... Luckily for Poliway, Shu comes plummeting right back down out of the sky and knocks Diglett out with a fortuitous - if painful - headbutt. Now things are going as planned! Shu drunkenly commands Poliwag to use Water Gun, and then he tosses a Poké Ball to finally capture Diglett.

A short while later, Shu is recovered and once again basking in the glow of having captured another Pokémon, and Pikachu is again impatient to just get going. Shu pleads that he needs time to train his newly caught Pokémon...by playing Whack-A-Mole with Diglett, of course.
