The Legendary Pokémon, Captured (DP Adventure!)

A Fisherman or FisherStadGSC (Japanese: つりびと Fisherman) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation I games. They usually are middle-aged men with rods, reels, and fishing gear. There is normally a Poké Ball attached to the end of the line. The class was named Fisher in Pokémon Stadium and Generation II, but otherwise is named Fisherman.

In the Japanese version of Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, they are depicted smoking, as fishermen smoking is a common stereotype in Japan. The cigarette was removed in international releases.

They specialize in Water-type Pokémon that can be caught via fishing. At least once in every core-series game prior to Pokémon Sun and Moon, there is a Fisherman who will fight the player with a full team made up entirely of Magikarp. In Generation VII, they keep their Pokémon in Lure Balls.

In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Fishermen will award three Poké Balls along with prize money upon being defeated.

A self-proclaimed "Fishing God" named Sullivan appeared in Whiscash and Ash, where he was hunting for a giant Whiscash nicknamed "Nero".

A fisherman appeared in Buizel Your Way Out Of This!, where his Zigzagoon had been knocked out by a Buizel.

An old fisherman appeared in If the Scarf Fits, Wear It!.

Zigzagoon is a Pokémon that was seen under the ownership of a fisherman. It was carried past Ash, Dawn, and Brock, having been knocked out by a Buizel.

None of Zigzagoon's moves are known.

A Fisherman was seen amongst the many people visiting the Safari Zone in Weavile Wobbles But It Won't Fall Down.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

In Omega Alpha Adventure 5, it was revealed that after the defeat of Team Aqua, ex-Aqua Admin Amber became a Fisherman.

In the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! manga

A Fisherman made a cameo in The Legendary Pokémon Captured, fishing in a lake as Hareta passed by him on Roark's old bicycle.
