'''Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis''' is a {{wp|Multilingualism|multilingual}}, {{wp|Open content|open-content}} [[Pokémon]] {{wp|encyclopedia}} project that includes, among others, [[Bulbapedia]].

==History==
The first person to conceive the idea of a Pokémon wiki was Meowth346 of {{OBP|Pokémon Forever|site}}. Eventually, [[Bulbapedia]] itself was created in December 2004, and opened to the public the following February. In April 2005, {{u|Nyoo|nYoo}} suggested a {{wp|German language|German-language}} version. Later in the year, in August, the idea that would eventually spawn [[PokéWiki]] came to be.

Due to their both being open-content wiki Pokémon encyclopedias, PokéWiki and Bulbapedia soon allied to form Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis, hoping that soon more would join the group. Eventually, the Japanese [[Pokémon Wiki]] answered the call in June 2006 after its April creation.

On April 6, 2007, the {{wp|Polish language|Polish-language}} [[Wikinezka]] joined the group. This was followed by the {{wp|French language|French-language}} [[Poképédia]] in September 2007, the {{wp|Portuguese language|Portuguese-language}} [[LANDpedia]] in December 2007, the {{wp|Spanish language|Spanish-language}} [[Pokéteca]] in August 2009, the {{wp|Italian language|Italian-language}} [[Pokémon Central Wiki]] in August 2010, and the {{wp|Chinese language|Chinese-language}} [[52Poké Wiki]] in March 2013. In January 2016, Pokéteca and LANDpedia were removed from the group after going offline during 2013. The Spanish-language [[WikiDex]] later replaced Pokéteca in May 2018, while at the same, Wikinezka was removed from the group after going offline during 2017. 

Currently, the seven wikis interlink to each other, and navigation between articles on the same subject is made possible by links in the sidebar.

==Name==
Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis is {{wp|Latin}} for ''Encyclopedias of Pokémon''. This translation takes the idea that "Pokémon" is both the singular and plural one step further, by using the singular "Pokémonis" rather than the plural "Pokémonum".

==Logo==
The logo of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis is a {{i|Poké Ball}} image superimposed over a polar [[wp:azimuthal equidistant projection|azimuthal equidistant projection]] of the planet Earth, reminiscent of the [[wp:Flag of the United Nations|Flag of the United Nations]]. The color of the Poké Ball, as well as the color of the underlying Earth, differs among the members of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis: Bulbapedia's is green, PokéWiki's is cerulean, Pokémon Wiki's is blue, Wikinezka's was red, Poképédia's is yellow, LANDpedia's was orange, Pokéteca's was brown, Pokémon Central's is indigo, 52Poké Wiki's is vermilion, and WikiDex's is gold.
