|desc=Emily's {{p|Nidorina}} nicknamed Maria (メリー ''Mary'') is in love with [[Ralph]]'s {{p|Nidorino}} and has an orange ribbon around its neck. It first appeared as a {{p|Nidoran♀}} when Emily had lost her and with the help of {{Ash}} and [[Ash's friends|his friends]] tried to find it. [[Tracey]] find her and also a {{p|Nidoran♂}} (Tony) which both Ralph and Emily find them kissing and playing with each other, the trainers quickly grab the Pokémon and leave. It is revealed that both Ralph and Emily have known each other since they were small catching the same Pokémon and competing in the same contests which as made both Tony and Maria very close but their owners despise each other. It was then seen at the balcony window looking down at Tony but was taken back in by Emily.

{{TR|Meowth}} tells Maria to come with him but she would not abandon her trainer ending it in a failure. The next day Maria and Tony are captured by [[Team Rocket]]. Emily and Ralph appear to try and get them back but is stopped by [[Jessie's Arbok]]. They both command an attack which works and [[James]] calls out [[James's Victreebel|Victreebel]] but is defeated by double attacks. And in the end are sent blasting off. Suddenly Maria [[Evolution|evolves]] into a Nidorina along with Tony, in the end Emily and Ralph become friends.
