* This episode may be a reference to the Sudowoodo blocking the player from passing through 36 in Gold and Silver, Crystal, and later HeartGold and SoulSilver.

* The version of this episode streamed via Pokémon TV, the Magna Pacific DVD release for this episode, as well as the Finland version, incorrectly use Pokémon Johto as the opening and closing themes. The version of the episode that aired during the Twitch marathon has the correct opening, but the incorrect ending.
** However, Pokémon in the United States and Pokémon in the United States did originally air this episode with Pokémon Johto as the theme.

* Although Born to Be a Winner officially became the opening theme starting in A Goldenrod Opportunity, the first Pokémon in the United States presentations, as well as the former Pokémon in the United States version, Cartoon Network and Pokémon in the United States broadcasts, continued to use Pokémon Johto as the opening and closing credits up until this episode. This error is present in the Pokémon TV streaming version, the Magna Pacific DVD release, and the Finland version. The version of the episode that aired during the Twitch marathon has the correct opening, but the incorrect ending. This was amended for the American DVD release and the Disney XD/Amazon Video streaming version.
* In one scene, Ash's Noctowl's outer circle around its eye is colored black instead of light-brown.

Dub edits
* Eleven and a half minutes into the dubbed episode, after Meowth sighs, Wobbuffet and Sudowoodo start interacting again. An extended 28-second scene of Sudowoodo shaking and Wobbuffet shouting out its name back and forth and James commenting on this interaction were edited out in the dub.
* The final dub commercial break eyecatch was placed in between the aerial view of the forest after Marie and Pierre settles their differences and an evening scene of the river, causing the soundtrack Meeting and Parting to have a gap in-between. However, a transition scene that existed within the split in the original version was edited out in the dub.
