Pikachu uses {{m|Thunderbolt}} but the mecha absorbs it and Team Rocket uses the energy to fire their "bubblegum bombs". Ash runs and manages to dive into the woods for cover. The mecha finds Ash with its "eye beam" and targets him so James can fire another bubblegum bomb. It misses and they trip over a tree root.
