Origin

Drone Rotom are Rotom inhabiting drones that can be seen recording live footage of Gym Challenge and League matches in Pokémon Sword and Shield. While unnamed in the game's dialogue, they also appear in the anime's Pokémon Journeys: The Series, where they are called "drone Rotom" and "Rotom drones" interchangably.
