'''Cynthia''' (Japanese: '''シロナ''' ''Shirona'') is a recurring character who appeared in the [[Pokémon anime]]. Cynthia is currently the Champion of the Sinnoh region and has helped deal with several crisis's, in particular against [[Team Galactic]] and [[Team Rocket]].

Cynthia was first mentioned in [[Lucian]]'s flashback in ''[[DP035|An Elite Meet and Greet!]]'', along with the members of the [[Sinnoh]] [[Elite Four]].

Cynthia also had a cameo appearance at the beginning of ''[[M12|Arceus and the Jewel of Life]]'', where she was engaged in a battle against {{FB|Tower Tycoon|Palmer}}. In addition, Cynthia made a cameo appearance in the ending credits of ''[[M13|Zoroark: Master of Illusions]]''.

In ''[[BW085|All for the Love of Meloetta!]]'', Cynthia met up with Ash again in [[Virbank City]] in [[Unova]] at an ice cream stand. She told Ash, {{an|Iris}} and {{an|Cilan}} about the [[Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup]], where she would have an {{wp|exhibition game|exhibition match}}. Ash and {{ashfr}} then decided to go with Cynthia and participate. On the way to the seaport to take a plane to Cynthia's villa in [[Undella Town]], she almost hit an injured {{an|Meloetta}} with her car. She discovered that it was suffering from a fever and gave Ash, Iris, and Cilan instructions on how to make it feel better. She asked Iris and Cilan to find a Berry for it while she and Ash would get some ice. She was revealed to have a {{p|Glaceon}} which used {{m|Ice Beam}} to freeze the water. Cynthia and Ash broke the ice and took it to Meloetta. After it recovered a little, Iris asked Cynthia if she could battle her and her Garchomp while she used {{TP|Iris|Axew}}, as Iris was thrilled to battle a {{type|Dragon}} she had never met before. Cynthia agreed and the battle got underway. Even though Axew learned {{m|Giga Impact}} during the battle, Garchomp proved to be way too strong for Axew. Just when Garchomp was about to hit Axew with {{m|Brick Break}}, Cynthia stopped Garchomp from attacking and ended the battle before Axew could get hurt.  

Cynthia also made a cameo appearance in the ending credits of ''[[M16|Genesect and the Legend Awakened]]''.

Cynthia is astoundingly powerful and well-respected as [[Sinnoh]]'s {{pkmn|Champion}}. She is measured in her battle style, and while she attacks in quick succession, she prefers not to exhaust either hers or her opponents' Pokémon. Cynthia has a calm demeanour, not showing the slightest of stress even in the heat of {{pkmn|battle}}. Cynthia is incredibly wise and well versed in the Sinnoh time-space legends. Throughout the {{series|Diamond & Pearl}} she often quoted ''"When every life meets another life, something will be born"'', a line directly from the Sinnoh time-space legends. She is particularly interested in the [[friendship]] between Trainers and their Pokémon, and enjoys mentoring young Trainers, and willingly offers advice to support their growth such as {{Ash}}, [[Paul]] and [[Unova League]]'s [[Caitlin]].
