The Contest Costume (Japanese: ライブスーツ Live Suit and ライブドレス Live Dress) is a Key Item introduced in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It is a themed costume worn during Pokémon Contest Spectaculars.

Effect

These alternate clothes are worn whenever the player participates in a Pokémon Contest Spectacular. The costume varies depending on the player's gender.

The male costume resembles the costume worn by Pikachu Rock Star, while the female costume resembles the one worn by Pikachu Pop Star.

A Contest Costume first appeared in Reuniting for the First Time!, where Chloe wore it during the Lilycove City Contest Spectacular. According to Serena, it was previously used by the "Princess of Hoenn".

In Partners in Time!, May was wearing a Contest Costume while watching Ash's Masters Eight Tournament battle against Leon.

In Salamence Evolves, Ruby was revealed to have designed a pair of Contest Costumes for himself and Sapphire, based on the costumes he had designed for the Cosplay Pikachu. Near the end of the chapter, Ruby and Sapphire wore the costumes while riding Rayquaza to space to destroy Grand Meteor Delta, and at the very end of the chapter, they wore them together for a Contest Spectacular in Slateport City.
