Chingling (Japanese: リーシャン Lisyan) is a Psychic-type baby Pokémon.

It evolves into Chimecho when leveled up with high friendship during the night.

Biology

Physiology

Chingling looks like a yellow bell with small, round limbs, and an opening representing a mouth. Atop its body is a tiny, round, pierced growth, through which red-and-white-striped rope is attached. Inside its body is a red orb that creates its cry when it is agitated, much like a real bell.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

It can deafen foes by emitting high-frequency cries.

Behavior

Chingling moves with a flouncing hop. When Chingling hops, the orb in its mouth bounces all over and makes a ringing sound. It emits high-frequency cries that people cannot hear, and once it starts, it can cry for a long time.

Trivia

Origin

Chingling is based on a 鈴 Suzu bell, used at Shinto shrines.

Name origin

Chingling may derive from chime and jingling, possibly incorporating youngling, denoting its status as a baby Pokémon.

Lisyan may be a combination of 鈴 rin (bell), りんりん rinrin (onomatopoeia for bell chiming), and しゃんしゃん shanshan (onomatopoeia for bell ringing). It may also be a play on listen.
