Chic (Japanese: ちゃも Chamo), known as Toro in Chuang Yi's translations, was one of the first Pokémon that Sapphire has received in the Pokémon Adventures manga.
Chic (Japanese: ちゃも Chamo), known as Toro in Chuang Yi's translations, is a Blaziken that Sapphire owns in Pokémon Adventures and one of her first Pokémon. Chic was given to Sapphire by her father, Professor Birch. As of It All Ends Now VII, she is at level 59, and her Characteristic is that she is "thoroughly cunning."

Sapphire received Chic from her father, Professor Birch. She was first seen after Sapphire rescued Ruby from a pack of wild Mightyena and took him to her Secret Base, and the beauty-obsessed boy thought she was a Pokémon, and attacked after she started talking. Despite its type disadvantage against his newly received Mudkip, it was able to defeat it, and then fought a wild Seviper, though it failed to finish it off. She then took Chic on her journey to conquer the eight Gyms of Hoenn after she made a pact with Ruby, and fought the (then) Team Aqua Grunt Amber, Matt, and Shelly at Rustboro City, where it managed to defeat the latter's Ludicolo with a Ruby (Adventures)'s help. She failed to use it in her first Gym battle with Roxanne, though, because her Nosepass used its Magnet Pull Ability, leaving her unable to switch.

Prior to the start of her journey, Sapphire received Chic as a Torchic from her father Professor Birch. Chic first appeared at the end of Making Mirth with Mightyena, resting atop Sapphire's head. It was soon revealed that the two rescued Ruby from a pack of wild Mightyena and took him to Sapphire's Secret Base. Upon waking up, the beauty-obsessed boy thought she was a Pokémon, and attacked after she started talking. Despite her type disadvantage against his newly received Mudkip, she was able to defeat him, and then fought a wild Seviper, though she failed to finish it off.

After intensive training at Granite Cave with Rono, she evolved into Combusken and defeated Brawly's Hariyama in the Dewford Gym after a tough battle where Rono, even after evolving into a Lairon, was nearly beaten in seconds. Sapphire then took Chic to the Abandoned Ship on Sapphire (Adventures)'s back, where it fought the Magma Admins Tabitha and Courtney, but thanks to the latter's devious use of an acidic berry, Sapphire was rendered unable to see, and had to rely on Ruby for assistance. Although they seemingly won the battle with Ruby (Adventures) and Sapphire (Adventures)'s help, the two Magmas ultimately fulfilled their objective of stealing the III which belonged to the two Pokémon's owner.
In Lombre Larceny, Chic battled Team Aqua, as they had trapped a Castform in a fountain. Both Chic and Rono defeated Team Aqua's Sharpedo and Carvanha, but they took damage from their Rough Skin Ability. Due to the injury, Rono was unable to take out Shelly's Ludicolo, but Chic was able to defeat it with help from Castform.

In Mashing Makuhita, Sapphire trains Chic and Rono at Granite Cave in order to prepare for her Gym battle against Brawly. After training for most of the day the two evolve into Combusken and Lairon. Sapphire then goes to Brawly and begins their battle. Chic first battles against his Machop. Due to her increased speed and power, she easily overpowered Machop, forcing Brawly to switch it in. Chic was later sent out against his Brawly. Due to its Thick Fat Ability and Jū fighting style, Chic got overwhelmed and slammed into a wall, getting her claw stuck in the process. Makuhita then evolves into Hariyama and moves in to finish Chic off with Counter. Although it looks like Chic lost, Hariyama soon fainted, as Chic attacked twice thanks to Double Kick.
Afterwards, Sapphire soon headed to Mauville City, but ended up getting the Badge for free from Wattson anyway, something she despised as she felt she had to work for a Badge properly instead. Because, in the end, Sapphire never got to fight the old man even after rescuing him, Chic only gained a new comrade in Sapphire (Adventures). She was next seen in Lavaridge Town after Sapphire arrived there, where it finally had a chance to battle but was easily caught by Matt's Azumarill and didn't get to defeat it. After Team Aqua succeeded in cooling Mt. Chimney's volcano, Chic had a friendly fight with Sapphire's new chum, Flannery's Magcargo, and though it didn't win, earned her the Heat. A while later, Chic finally evolved into Blaziken during her battle with Winona, but lost against her superior skills, and Sapphire ended up in her tuition. After a fight with Ruby over Hoenn's fate, which the boy claims he doesn't care about, Sapphire was so enraged that she ripped off the clothes Ruby made for her, and went back to donning leaf branches. This fit of anger allowed Chic to go all-out on Winona's Pokémon, and earned her recognition, giving Sapphire the Feather.

After the resolved this dispute, Chic teamed up with Ruby's "Mumu," now a Swampert, in a Double Battle against Archie and Maxie at the Seafloor Cavern, where they were obviously winning, but were dragged all the way to Sootopolis City, where Groudon and Kyogre fought a decisive battle, and the two were under the titans' influence. With a III she picked up in Mt. Chimney, Ruby and Sapphire were able to release the Legendary artifacts and Legendary artifactss, which they were absorbed into their bodies, a fact Ruby deduced after they awakened at the Mirage Island. To better their chances of winning the next time, Ruby suggested that Sapphire teach Chic Sky Uppercut, which after undergoing much training to learn it, really did come in handy in the final battle against the two now-insane leaders at Sootopolis.
In Adding It Up with Plusle & Minun II, Chic was used alongside Rono to battle Courtney and her Ninetales. The two were quickly defeated.

In Bubble Bubble Toil and Azumarill I, Chic battled Matt and his Azumarill. Chic was quickly overwhelmed and pushed back by the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon's water attacks.

In the Emerald arc, Chic was Sapphire's most used Pokémon in the numerous Battle Frontier (Generation III) and Battle Tower battles, but ended up losing against Dome Ace's powerful Salamence. After Emerald ended up freeing the five petrified Pokédex Holders, she learned the ultimate fire attack, Blast Burn, from Ultima's metal ring, and helped destroy Guile Hideout's enormous, fake Kyogre monster.
In Mixing It Up with Magcargo, Chic battled Team Aqua. Sapphire has Chic and Troppy launch a barrage of attacks that continue to get countered, no matter how hard they try. Sapphire, suddenly realizing something, has Chic and Troppy hold their fire. Approaching the "enemy," Sapphire discovers that a circular Mirror Coat has been set up around them, reflecting all their attacks back upon themselves and that Team Aqua had left long ago.

Chic reappeared in the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire.
In I Dare Ya, Altaria... Knock Chic off My Shoulder!, Chic battled Winona and her Winona. The two begin by exchanging a few blows, and Chic hides in the trees to get above Altaria. Chic soon jumps out and uses Double Team to confuse Altaria, followed up by slamming Altaria down to the ground, causing her to evolve into Blaziken. With her new form, Sapphire assumes that Blaze Kick will be powerful enough to win and has Chic score a direct hit. Winona takes advantage of their cocky attitude and has Altaria heal its burn with Refresh before defeating Chic with a powered-up Sky Attack from Dragon Dance.

In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon X, Chic, alongside Ruby and Sapphire's other Pokémon, battled Archie and Maxie. She and Mumu attempted to deliver a decisive blow but failed to do any real damage. In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, Chic and Mumu attack the meteor fragment coming from Archie and Maxie, which sends a powerful blast of energy out. The energy hits Maxie and Archie's foreheads, turning them back to normal and stopping the power of the Red and Blue Orbs.

In It All Ends Now VIII, Chic battled alongside the rest of Sapphire and Ruby's Pokémon against Maxie and Archie.

The training was issued by Steven and Mr. Stone as part of a plan dedicated to preventing a giant meteoroid from crashing into the planet. With a set of Mega Bracelets and Mega Stones obtained from Steven, Chic gained the ability to use Mega Evolution. After a day of training, Chic fully mastered Blast Burn and attained her Mega-Evolved state.

With the training over, Mr. Stone had everyone taken to the Sea Mauville for the next stage of the plan. There, Chic and Sceptile were put on a set of machines known as the Absorber and ordered to coat themselves in the power generated by the ultimate moves. Once ready, Mr. Stone and Steven activated the Absorbers, which proceeded to drain the life energy of Chic and Sceptile painfully. The energy was converted into Infinity Energy and used to power a device called the dimensional shifter capable of warping the meteoroid to another location.

Blaziken, as a Torchic, appears to have shared many traits with her Trainer, Sapphire, as seen in her debut chapter. Overtime, she has gotten along with Ruby and Mumu, his Swampert, even after evolving.

As a Torchic, Chic was rash and often acted first before assessing the situation. After evolving, Chic became more reasonable and soft-spoken, and was shown getting along with others much easier. She is a very strong Pokémon and is the powerhouse of Sapphire's team. She is also very strong-willed and doesn't back down from any challenge, no matter how difficult.

History

Ruby & Sapphire arc

Chic battling Team Aqua

Chic was later sent out against his Makuhita.

In Adding It Up with Plusle & Minun II, Chic was used alongside Rono to battle Courtney and her Ninetales. The two were quickly defeated.

Chic battling Winona's Altaria

In Bubble Bubble Toil and Azumarill I, Chic battled Matt and his Azumarill. Chic was quickly overwhelmed and pushed back by the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon's water attacks.

In I Dare Ya, Altaria... Knock Chic off My Shoulder!, Chic battled Winona and her Altaria.

Chic battling Archie and Maxie

Emerald arc

Chic training to learn Blast Burn

In Cunning Kirlia, Chic advanced Sapphire through the Battle Dome.

In Facing Gulpin Is Hard to Swallow, Chic helped Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, and Noland advance through the Battle Tower to reach Guile Hideout.

In The Final Battle III, Chic is taught the ultimate move Blast Burn. She was soon used alongside Blue's Charizard and Gold's Typhlosion, Exbo, to attack with Blast Burn to help destroy Guile Hideout's fake Kyogre.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

In Salamence Evolves, Chic, alongside Mumu and Emerald's Sceptile, trained under Ultima in order to fully master the ultimate moves.
