'''Chic''' (Japanese: '''ちゃも''' ''Chamo''), known as '''Toro''' in [[Chuang Yi]]'s translations, was one of the first {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that {{adv|Sapphire}} received in the [[Pokémon Adventures]] {{pkmn|manga}}. As of ''[[PS266|It All Ends Now VII]]'', she is level 59.

Prior to the start of her journey Sapphire recieved Chic as a Torchic from her father, [[Professor Birch]]. Chic first appeared in the end of ''[[PS182|Making Mirth with Mightyena]]'', resting atop Sapphire's head. It was soon revealed that the two rescued {{adv|Ruby}} from a pack of wild {{p|Mightyena}} and took him to Sapphire's [[Secret Base]] Upon waking up the beauty-obsessed boy thought she was a Pokémon, and attacked after she started talking. Despite her type disadvantage against [[Mumu|his newly received Mudkip]], she was able to defeat him, and then fought a wild {{p|Seviper}}, though she failed to finish it off.

In ''[[PS188|Lombre Larceny]]'', Chic was used to battle against [[Team Aqua]], as they had trapped a {{p|Castform}} in a fountain. Both Chic and [[Rono]] defeated Team Aqua's {{p|Sharpedo}} and {{p|Carvanha}}, but took damage from their [[Ability]] {{a|Rough Skin}}. Due to the injury Rono was unable to take out [[Shelly]]'s {{p|Ludicolo}}, but Chic was able to defeat it with help from [[Fofo|Castform]].

In ''[[PS195|Mashing Makuhita]]'', Sapphire trains Chic and Rono at [[Granite Cave]] in order to prepare for her [[Gym]] battle against [[Brawly]]. After training for most of the day the two evolve into Combusken and {{p|Lairon}}. Sapphire then goes to Brawly and begins their battle. Chic is used first and battles against his {{p|Machop}}. Due to her increased speed and power she easily overpowers Machop, forcing Brawly to switch it in. Chic is later sent out against his {{TP|Brawly|Makuhita}}. Due to its [[Thick Fat]] Ability and Jū fighting style Chic is overwhelmed and slammed into a wall, getting her claw stuck in the process. Makuhita then evolves into {{p|Hariyama}} and moves in to finish Chic off with {{m|Counter}}. Although it looks like Chic lost Hariyama soon fainted, as Chic attacked twice thanks to Double Kick.

In ''[[PS216|Mixing It Up with Magcargo]]'', Chic battles against [[Flannery]]'s {{p|Magcargo}}. Chic starts by hitting hard with Double Kick before the two Pokémon exchange Flamethrowers. Chic then sneaks up behind Magcargo in the aftermath and cracks its shell with a powerful kick, but lava comes spewing out, damaging Chic. The two then stop the battle and Sapphire is later given the {{badge|Heat}}.

In ''[[PS226|I Dare Ya, Altaria... Knock Chic off My Shoulder]]'', Chic is used in Sapphire's battle against [[Winona]] and her {{TP|Winona|Altaria}}. The two begin by exchanging a few blows, and Chic soon hides in the trees to get above {{p|Altaria}}. Chic soon jumps out and uses Double Team to confuse Altaria. Chic then slams Altaria down to the ground and evolves into Blaziken. With her new form Sapphire assumes that Blaze Kick will be powerful enough to win and has Chic score a direct hit. Winona takes advantage of their cocky attitude and has Altaria heal its burn with {{m|Refresh}} before defeating Chic with a powered up {{m|Sky Attack}} from {{m|Dragon Dance}}.

In ''[[PS248|The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon X]]'', Chic, alongside Ruby and Sapphire's other Pokémon, are used to battle against [[Archie]] and [[Maxie]]. She and Mumu attempted to deliver a decisive blow, but failed to do any real damage. In ''[[PS252|The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV]]'', Chic and Mumu attack the meteor fragment coming from Archie and Maxie, which sends a powerful blast of energy out. The energy hits Maxie and Archie's foreheads, turning them back to normal and stops the power of the Red and [[Blue Orb]]s.

In ''[[PS330|The Final Battle III]]'', Chic is taught the ultimate move Blast Burn. She was soon used alongside [[Blue's Charizard]] and {{adv|Gold}}'s [[Exbo]] to attack with Blast Burn to help destroy [[Guile Hideout]]'s fake {{p|Kyogre}}.

In [[PAORAS03|Omega Alpha Adventure 3]], Chic, alongside Mumu and [[Emerald's Sceptile]], trained under Ultima in order to fully master the ultimate moves. The training was issued by [[Steven Stone]] and [[Mr. Stone]] as part of a plan dedicated to preventing a giant [[Grand Meteor Delta|meteoroid]] from crashing into the planet. With a set of [[Key Stone|Mega Bracelet]]s and [[Mega Stone]]s obtained from Steven, Chic gained the ability to use [[Mega Evolution]]. After a day of training, Chic fully mastered Blast Burn and attained its Mega-Evolved state.

With the training over, Mr. Stone had everyone taken to the [[Sea Mauville]] for the next stage of the plan. There, Chic and Sceptile were put on a set of machines known as the [[ultimate weapon|Absorber]] and ordered to coat themselves in the power of the ultimate moves. Once ready, Mr. Stone and Steven active the Absorbers, which proceed to painfully drain the life energy of Chic and Sceptile. The energy was converted into [[Infinity Energy]] and used to power a device called the dimensional shifter capable of warping the meteoroid to another location.

As a Torchic, Chic was rash and quick to act, often acting first before assessing the situation. After evolving Chic became more reasonable and soft-spoken, and was shown getting along with others much easier. She is a very strong Pokémon and is the powerhouse of Sapphire's team. She is also very strong-willed and doesn't back down from any challenge, no matter how difficult.
