(Japanese: チャンピオン ワタルにちょうせん！ Challenge the Champion Wataru!) is a tournament held within the wider Pokémon World Tournament competition. It can be downloaded during an event held over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. In Japan, its distribution began July 14, 2012. International distributions are yet to be announced.

Description

As its name suggests, this tournament centers around Lance, the current Champion of the Indigo Plateau. Lance is one of the participants in the tournament, and is guaranteed to reach the final match every time the player enters the tournament. The Kanto and Johto Gym Leaders Morty, Whitney, and Erika also participate.

The Gym Leaders that enter this tournament use three Pokémon in the Single Battle format. One of the three Pokémon is a member of their original party in Pokémon Red and Blue/Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen or Pokémon Gold and Silver/Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The other two are native to Unova.
