Cent (Japanese: ダラー Dollar) is an Alolan Meowth that Sun owns in Pokémon Adventures and his starter Pokémon. He is level 49 and his Characteristic is "somewhat stubborn."

History

Cent and Sun

Cent first appeared in The Grand Entrance and Delivery Boy Sun, where he was used to battle a pair of Team Skull Grunts that had attacked Moon. He faced the Grunts' Salandit and easily defeated them with Pay Day. Later that day, Sun and Moon were attacked by Tapu Koko. Sun sent out Cent and Dollar to battle Tapu Koko, but the two immediately began fighting each other instead. Though the attacks seemingly did nothing, Tapu Koko fled, leaving behind a Sparkling Stone in the process.

In PASM06, Cent was used to battle Guzma in the second round of an Iki Town festival tournament. After Dollar was defeated by Guzma's Masquerain, Cent was sent out to replace it. Cent won by covering Masquerain's wings with water from its own Water Sport, leaving it unable to fly and vulnerable to be hit by Night Slash. Afterward, Guzma switched in his Golisopod, which proceeded to attack Cent relentlessly. When Golisopod's trash-covered claws dirtied the coin on Cent's head, it flew into a rage and furiously defeated Golisopod, allowing Sun to move to the next round.

In PASM07, Cent was used to battle Gladion in the final round of the tournament. It went up against Gladion's Type: Null, but was easily defeated, forcing Sun to switch it out for Dollar.

In PASM08, upon arriving on Akala Island, Sun met Lana, Kiawe, and Mallow, the Trial Captains of Akala. Unsure if he was worthy of taking the Island Challenge, Kiawe challenged Sun to a battle. Sun agreed and used Cent to battle Kiawe's Marowak. Cent was initially bewildered by Marowak's ability to manipulate its flames, but managed to land a hit after Sun told Cent to ignore the flames. The battle was called off after Kiawe decided to call his boss at the Thrifty Megamart and apologize for leaving work without telling anyone.

In PASM10, Cent was used in Sun's first trial, which was to fight against the Totem Pokémon of Brooklet Hill, a School Form Wishiwashi. Due to its immense size and strength, the Totem Wishiwashi was a tough opponent. Cent managed to defeat it after Sun instructed it to hit Baht, the main Wishiwashi located in the left eye. After dodging its attacks, Cent closed in on Baht's location and attacked it. The attack forced the Totem to separate back into its component Solo Form Wishiwashi, giving Sun the victory.

In PASM19, Cent, along with the rest of Sun's team, helped to rescue Moon from an attacking Xurkitree. By combining their attacks, they managed to knock Moon from Xurkitree's grasp, though Xurkitree immediately retaliated by smacking them away onto a nearby car. Soon after this Sun is approached by Looker and Anabel, members of the International Police, who want to learn more information about Ultra Beasts. Although hesitant Sun agrees to help them and after answering Anabel's questions she sends out her Mismagius. Believing she is attacking them Sun has Cent prepare to take the attack, but it redirects to hit a Blacephalon that snuck up on them. Cent attacks the Fireworks Pokémon and separates its head from the body, though it simply plays around with it before reattaching it. They decide to attack the body with Pay Day, which is burned up by Flame Burst. Knowing that it can counter what it can see Anabel has Mismagius attack it with Phantom Force and then tries but fails to capture it. Blacephalon counterattacks but they are saved by Tapu Bulu, who scares it off.

Personality and characteristics

Cent and Dollar fighting

While a competent battler, Cent tends to be sluggish and lazy whenever doing anything else. Due to being descended from royalty, Cent is very prideful and will fly into a violent rage if the coin on his head is dirtied. Cent and Dollar have a mutual dislike for one another; if sent out at the same time, they will immediately begin fighting each other instead of the opponent.
