These are Trainer classes that can only be encountered in Double Battles. While they are depicted as a pair of different Pokémon Trainers, they act as a single Trainer: they draw their Pokémon from a shared party, meaning they will always send out any remaining Pokémon to battle (unlike two unrelated Trainers that trigger a Double Battle when they see the player simultaneously, who draw Pokémon from independent parties).
In Generation VII, Trainers who are a part of specific Double Battle Trainer classes are individually referred to by the Trainer class they are based on while in battle.
