These are {{DL|Pokémon Trainer|Trainer class}}es that can only be encountered in [[Double Battle]]s. While they are depicted as a pair of different [[Pokémon Trainer]]s, they act as a single Trainer: they draw their Pokémon from a shared [[party]], meaning they will always send out any remaining Pokémon to battle (unlike two unrelated Trainers that trigger a Double Battle when they see the player simultaneously, who draw Pokémon from independent parties).

In [[Generation VII]], Trainers who are a part of specific Double Battle Trainer classes are individually referred to by the Trainer class they are based on while in battle.
