'''Calem''' (Japanese: '''カルム''' ''Calme'') is the male [[player character]] in {{g|X and Y}}, and also serves as the [[rival]] in the same games if the player chooses to play as the {{ga|Serena|female character}}. His female counterpart is {{ga|Serena}}.

Calem is a boy living in [[Vaniville Town]] with his friends {{ga|Serena}}, [[Tierno]], [[Trevor]], and [[Shauna]]. He recently moved into Vaniville Town. His {{kal|Grace|mom}} owns a {{p|Rhyhorn}} and {{p|Fletchling}}, the latter of which wakes Calem up at the start of the game.

Calem appears alongside Serena as a trophy in the 3DS version. They are both simply referred to as Pokémon Trainer (Pokémon X & Y). Calem's hat is also part of one of Pikachu's alternative costumes.

While Calem himself does not appear directly, a palette swap color scheme based on Calem's design, with a darker-skinned appearance, appears for the male {{OBP|Pokémon Trainer|Super Smash Bros.}}, who is an incarnation of {{ga|Red}}.

Calem, who is based on the [[rival]], forms a [[sync pair]] with {{p|Espurr}} and its evolved form {{p|Meowstic}}, along with a {{Shiny}} {{p|Greninja}}, and {{p|Fennekin}} in [[Pokémon Masters EX]]. Calem joins the {{player}} after completing the twentieth chapter of the [[PML Arc]].

Calem has also made notable appearances in the game's Main Stories, the PML Arc, [[Legendary event|Legendary Adventures]], and the [[Villain Arc]].
