Cal is the head of the [[Pokémon Training Center]], which specializes in teaching budding {{pkmn|Trainer}}s and {{tc|Pokémon Breeder}}s like [[Jaco]] to handle {{type|Electric}} Pokémon. The lessons involved giving a student such a Pokémon to raise during the course, with the main aim being to teach the Pokémon to control its electricity so it could be used for power generation.

Cal was an affable and approachable mentor, offering Jaco support. He was also quite confident in his abilities and appeared to have a deep connection with his raised Pokémon. With his command, Electrike's electrical control was showcased through having it manipulate its {{m|Thunder}} attack in all directions before precisely hitting a set target.

After witnessing Jaco's Electrike evolve into a {{p|Manectric}} and defeat {{TRT}}, Cal allowed Jaco to bypass an upcoming test and graduate to the next level.
