Release information

This card was released as a SM Black Star Promo and was available from various stores holding events to celebrate the release of the POKÉMON Detective Pikachu film. It was given away at Walmart stores on May 18, 2019 in the United States, at Mr. Toys and Toy Mate stores in Australia, at Waterstones stores in the United Kingdom, and at Eason & Son stores in Ireland. In Canada, it was given away on May 18 at Toys "R" Us to participants in a "guess the word" game where it was necessary to find various letter clues scattered across the store; one had to complete this activity and provide the correct answer of "PSYDUCK" to collect the promo card along with Psyduck and an activity kit. In Japan, it was included in the Great Detective Pikachu subset. This card is given out in European countries without the big chain stores to stores that host pre-releases as part of the "Play and Trade Day". It was later included in the Detective Pikachu On the Case Figure Collection released August 9, 2019.
