Sevii Islands

Should we add the seven towns of the Sevii Islands as well, when we get this started? Tom Temprotran 05:10, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

I believe we should, to maintain consistency. --TMF T - C 20:20, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
All right. But will... the city be known as One Island or Knot Island? Maybe keep Knot Island as a descriptor page for all of the features of the island, and One Island as the city itself? Tom Temprotran 05:53, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

For the top bar of the template with the city's name...

I had an idea. Perhaps make it changeable per city, so that the background to the text is viridian for Viridian, celadon for Celadon, violet for Violet, and so on. Maybe for the cities and such without color names, we could somehow figure a color out? Like Lavaridge, I imagine, would be some sort of reddish-orange, or even a dark maroon, Mossdeep would be a greenish-blue, and Pallet would be that same silvery-grey it was if you played Yellow on a GBC. Check out the list of colors on Wikipedia, I think it'll end up being a nice, aesthetic addition.

...sheesh. Staying up until about 4AM gives me too many crazy ideas. And even then, I can still spell aesthetic right. I should... quit for the night. Eh. Ah well. I'll be working on those route overworld maps tomorrow, and then when I finish Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sevii, I'll go on ahead and update the maps for the cities. Tom Temprotran 08:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't see a problem with this - it would be easy to implement, too. Though I would ask that if this does get implemented, color pickers make their choices in good style and taste - for example, don't even suggest FF00FF as a title color. And remember, Bulbapedia's general style is with pastels... --Pie 08:51, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, since that'd be magenta. Same for the other compliments of red, green, and blue, they're a bit on the so-bright-it's-annoying side. I'd say for Fuschia, we'd have to use the darker one, F400A1, instead of the webcolor version. Looks better, anyway. Tom Temprotran 17:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Infobox

I'm going to tweak the appearance of the infobox a bit to resemble that of Bulbapedia:Project Locations and Bulbapedia:Project Routes. I don't have anything major planned; mostly just the widening of the box to 300px and the standardization of the font size. As always, comments are welcome. --TMF T - C 04:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Maps

The maps that we have for all of the Kanto cities are starting to show their age, IMO. With the new maps being created for all of the routes, I don't think it'd be too difficult to make new maps for the cities as well. --TMF T - C 18:25, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, i want to contribute with this project, mostly with the anime sub-section, so i wanna join :D, i don't know what more to say than that xD. --Bono 21:01, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

So do I. Can I?--FWANG! 22:19, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

A Suggestion

I've noticed that the articles for cities and towns seem to lack a screenshot of how that particular town/city is depicted in the anime. I apologize if this has already been suggested, but I think that at least one screenshot could really add something to the articles, since even when you play the games, it's a tad hard to visualize how the cities actually would look like, for those like me who haven't seen a good chunk of the anime.

Thanks for your time! :) - unsigned comment from Sui Kune (talkcontribs)

Well, in the future, I recommend signing comments you make using the four-tilde method (~~~~), but getting away from that... Yes, that would be a good idea. Don't know if it'd fit on the infobox, but separate, for sure. --TTEchidna 04:34, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Joining

May I please join this project, mostly with the games section. I can get everything you need. So please let me join. PC_GEEK

Orange Islands

Should the Orange Islands be a part of this project if the Sevii Islands are? I've been trying to get those pages to have some substance and consistency. --Greengiant 19:53, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

  • No, the Orange Archipelago is anime-exclusive; this project is meant for in-game locations. ~Zaffre~ 03:22, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Orre?

As the scope is right now, it's fuzzy regarding Orre – the scope covers "every city and town that has been featured in the Pokémon games" yet it doesn't mention Orre in the list of regions after that sentence. I assume this is just an oversight (maybe my own, I don't remember if I wrote the page or not way back when), since Orre's cities/towns easily fit the project's guidelines (see the recently cleaned-up Phenac City).

In any event, whether they fall under the scope or not, those who are better than myself at picking colors for the infobox may want to adjust those that I've initially put for Phenac and, eventually, the other four cities and towns in the region. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 03:26, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Poké Mart stock lists

I've created a template for the Poké Mart stock list here. I've included a short tutorial there on how to use it. I've noticed a lot of Cities and Towns are missing stock lists so I'll be going round fixing that too. The template is based on one switch, which is different from most other templates which require several children templates, thus this one doesn't need separate templates for header/class/items etc. Feel free to start using it. Suggestions/comments/ideas, just post on the talk page.     -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι3r ^^vVv×>–- 05:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I'll help. I'll start with Hoenn, but I don't have direct access to the game right now so I'm only restricted to the information that's already there. It's a start, though. - espeonA 05:31, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Sweet. It's definitely a start.     -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι3r ^^vVv×>–- 05:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Helping Out

Can I help out with this project? I think I could help mostly in the Trivia areas of the games section.--Shocker 02:18, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Sure you can. —darklordtrom 04:37, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Can I join, too? I really want to help Bulbapedia. --Shining Latios 01:06, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Member Willing to Contribute

Hello! I would like to help count the population for Unova's cities. As well as double check all of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh's cities. --Han Ji-Wan 03:54, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Project near dead

Ummm. I've noticed this project is nearly dead. Where's the leader? Why is he/she not watching this project? The rules are really outdated. And the to-do list is also outdated.--Han Ji-Wan 06:20, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

"In other languages" section name change

An issue has risen about the fact that the "In other languages" section of the city/town article contains information on the English/Japanese names, and therefor are not "other languages". Dennou Zenshi (talkcontribs) suggested that the section should be changed to "Names". So, we will put up a vote. Yay, nay, or change it to something else

Yay (2)

If it stays as "In other languages", we have to make an own section for English and Japanese names, which seems pointless. I don't understand why we couldn't explain all name origins in one table. Of course we'll keep "IOL" section in pages whose all names are just translations, like Mt. Moon.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 08:28, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. The "In other languages" section is used in the pages of Pokémon was only because the Japanese and English are already in another section (Origin), leaving the other languages in the another section, thus referred to as "other" (Example: Arceus). The moves and abilities pages also use the "IOL" section simply because the English and Japanese name aren't listed (Example: Thunderbolt). The format in the name table of cities/towns is also similar to the format of the name table in the character's pages (English and Japanese already included), which is why "Names" is used. Making a separate section is unnecessary since the name origin isn't as long as the those for the Pokémon. ---神智の超龍對話」 13:12, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Nay (0)

I disagree. Why? Because there are no other "Names". It should be "In other languages", because it is in other languages. And it's not pointless to have a section for the English and Japanese names. They both deserve their own section because those 2 are the primary languages for the Pokemon franchise. After all, we are on an English Pokemon wikipedia site. --Han Ji-Wan 04:37, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes there are, "Names" is standard section in character articles. It's even mentioned here.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 09:00, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Not a good enough excuse because every single Pokemon has "In other languages", not "Names"... :/ --Han Ji-Wan 00:13, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Changed my opinion --Han Ji-Wan 04:19, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Change it to something else (2)

  • I also disagree with the "Names" section. It is misleading to the content it includes. I think something along the lines of "Name origin" would be more appropriate. I do agree that "In other languages" should not be used because of the inclusion of Japanese and English, but we need to consider why the Japanese and English names are in there in the first place: to explain what their names mean--the name origin, if you will. That's why I think they should be changed this way, and maybe even on the character pages as well. MaverickNate 01:11, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
If we did that, don't you think we should also do it for every single Pokemon, just so it is consistent with all other pages. It'd be hard work though. --Han Ji-Wan 01:28, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
The species pages are different. They DO NOT include English and Japanese in these sections, so they already aren't consistent with the rest, and this need not be applied. I don't think we'd have to change all those. MaverickNate 01:39, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, Nate. Didn't see your last comment. Han Ji-Wan, we are addressing cities and towns (and perhaps locations) only. I would agree with "Name origins" as well.--Clarky13 03:38, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Of course, Clarky13. I was getting mixed up, with Dennou Zenshi saying the cities and towns should follow the characters templates. I now changed my opinion to "change it to something else", Maverick/Nate provides some good points. --Han Ji-Wan 04:19, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Lovely! Before, I change everything, are there anymore rejections?--Clarky13 11:31, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Adding information on variable BGM?

Would the project be willing to add how BGM tracks can be changed in Unova on city/town pages? For example, Opelucid:

"In Black version, a synth track will be added to the background music if the player is near a keytar player who performs near the Pokémon Center. In White version, an erhu track will be added if the player is near a woman playing an erhu in the same location."—urutapu 08:39, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

The music changes from game to game? That's cool. Once the site is opened to the public, anyone with the knowledge of what comes from where should add this :) —darklordtrom 08:49, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, there's something similar happening to Accumula Town, but I think it applies to both games; on where the BGM has drums and a piano added to the main theme upon request, I don't really see why we couldn't add stuff like that. Masatoshitalk 14:39, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Black and White have different arrangements of the Opelucid theme, yeah, but all the other variable tracks apply to both games, like the piano/drums in Accumula, the flute in Anville, etc.—urutapu 16:50, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
