It [[Evolution|evolves]] from {{p|Combusken}} starting at [[level]] 36. It is the final form of {{p|Torchic}}. It can [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]] into '''Mega Blaziken''' using the {{DL|Mega Stone|Blazikenite}}.

{{TP|Harrison|Blaziken}} was first seen in ''[[EP265|Pop Goes The Sneasel]]''. {{jo|Harrison}} used it to defeat the {{p|Sneasel}} that was blocking access to the flame of {{p|Ho-Oh}}. Harrison later used Blaziken in a climactic battle with [[Ash's Charizard]].

In ''[[AG191|Once More with Reeling]]'', {{an|May}}'s Combusken evolved into a {{TP|May|Blaziken}}. She brought it with her to [[Johto]], and it was one of the Pokémon she used when she returned in ''[[DP076|A Full Course Tag Battle!]]''.

A {{DL|Rafe|Blaziken}} was also seen in ''[[M07|Destiny Deoxys]]'', under the ownership of [[Rafe]].

Its [[Mega Evolution]] debuted in ''[[XY001|Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!]]''. It continued to appear throughout the series, mostly within [[Lumiose City]], but also in ''[[XY010|Mega-Mega Meowth Madness!]]'' where its Trainer, Blaziken Mask, is revealed to be [[Meyer]] in disguise. Meyer's {{DL|Meyer|Blaziken ↔ Mega Blaziken|Blaziken}} was among the Pokémon helping to protect Kalos from the [[Giant Rock]].

A {{DL|Gurkinn|Blaziken}} appeared in ''[[XY031|The Cave of Trials!]]'', under the ownership of [[Korrina]]'s grandfather [[Gurkinn]]. Gurkinn used Blaziken as part of the test guarding a {{DL|Mega Stone|Lucarionite}} from Korrina.

A Blaziken appeared in a photo in [[Alexa]]'s [[Magazines in the Pokémon world|magazine]] in ''[[BW134|The Journalist from Another Region!]].''

A Blaziken that can [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]] into Mega Blaziken appeared in ''[[SS029|Mega Evolution Special I]]''.

Although she was unable to win the battle even with her increased power, subsequent training allowed her to earn Sapphire the Badge and back [[Archie]] and [[Maxie]]'s Pokémon into a corner twice. In the {{chap|Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire}}, she has obtained a [[Mega Stones|Blazikenite]], with it she can [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]] into Mega Blaziken.

Blaziken is probably based on a {{wp|cockfighting}} chicken, specifically the Japanese {{wp|Shamo chicken}} breed known for its mane and upright posture. The feathery legs resemble those of a {{wp|Cochin chicken}}. It bears resemblance to {{wp|Horus}} and {{wp|Ra}}, two anthropomorphic ancient Egyptian deities with hawk heads. Blaziken may also be based on the {{wp|Basan}}, a fire-breathing chicken, or possibly the ''{{wp|karura}}''. It is somewhat based on the mythical {{wp|Phoenix (mythology)|phoenix}}, as its feathers burn off every few years. It may also draw inspiration from the ''{{jwp|天狗火#松明丸|taimatsu-maru}}'', creatures that resembled raptors or ''{{wp|tengu}}'' and trailed flames.
