Blast Burn inflicts damage and then forces the user to recharge during the next turn. Unless this attack misses, the user will always have to recharge.

Blast Burn can also be used as part of a [[Contest combination|Pokémon Contest combination]], with the user gaining extra four appeal points if the move {{m|Sunny Day}} was used in the prior turn.

The user targets adjacent enemies, including frozen ones (thawing them out in the process); this move's damage is doubled at the end of calculation. If the move hits at least one target successfully, the user is inflicted with {{DL|Status condition (Mystery Dungeon)|Paused}} status condition for 1-2 turns, preventing them from acting on these turns. This move is affected by {{DL|Status condition (Mystery Dungeon)|Muzzled}} status condition.

 

In [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness|Explorers of Time and Darkness]] and [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky|Explorers of Sky]], the move's PP is decreased to 6.
