Ash's Glalie (Japanese: サトシのオニゴーリ Satoshi's Onigohri) was the fifth Pokémon caught by Ash during his travels through Hoenn. Its Japanese voice actor is 小西克幸 Katsuyuki Konishi and its English voice actor is Pete Zarustica. As a Snorunt, its voice actress is Japanese was 伊東みやこ Miyako Itō and its English voice actress was Kayzie Rogers.

History

Ash caught Glalie as a Snorunt in the episode Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snorunt. At a Pokémon Center, Snorunt stole Ash's badge case, causing him to chase after it into a blizzard. Seeing that Ash was in danger after knocking his head on a rock, Snorunt built an igloo around him and gave him an apple to eat. Later, Ash saved Snorunt from Team Rocket, and after agreeing to battle it, Ash captured Snorunt with the help of Pikachu.

Snorunt would occasionally use Powder Snow on Ash. According to Max, it was telling him to "Chill."

After learning Ice Beam as a result of extensive training, Snorunt evolved into Glalie while May was participating in the Grand Festival in the episode Rhapsody In Drew.

Glalie did not stay for long - after the Hoenn League, Ash left Glalie at Professor Oak's lab.

Trivia

  • Glalie was the only one of Ash's Hoenn Pokémon that he did not use in the Battle Frontier at one time or another.
  • This is Ash's second Template:Type2 Pokémon. His first was Lapras. However, Glalie is Ash's first pure Ice-type, as Lapras was also a part Template:Type2.
  • It is interesting to note that Snorunt evolved right after learning Ice Beam. In the games, such a method of evolution did not come until Generation IV, and Snorunt still do no not evolve the way this particular one did.
