(Japanese: アーケオス Akeosu) is a dual-type Rock/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Aaken starting at level 37.

Biology

Physiology

Akeosu is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to both birds and reptiles. Its featherless head is colored green, with red scutes, and its body is covered in frizzy, yellowish feathers. It has four blue wings; two on its arms, and two on its legs. All of its wings bear sharp claws. Similarly to its head and neck, its tail is featherless, but bears a pygostyle-like fan of feathers at the end. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth. Its eyes are white with black pupils and no irises.

Gender differences

Special abilities

Akeosu is adept at both running and flying to catch its prey. It is a cursorial predator that can outrun an automobile.

Trivia

  • Akeosu is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 567. As a result, it has the second highest base stat total of all non-legendary and non pseudo-legendary Pokémon, second to only Slaking.
    • Similar to Slaking, however, it has a hindering ability.
  • Akeosu's base stat total matches its National Dex number.

Origin

Akeosu appears to draw inspiration from Archaeopteryx, the first known bird to have ever existed. It also bears allusions to the Feathered Serpents of ancient Mesoamerican mythologies.
