Geography

Towa's house
A fallen tree with a cut through tunnel leads to the Lake of Life

The treetop village lies close to the Lake of Life, home to the Mythical Pokémon Celebi who is regarded as "Voice of the Forest" by Arborville's residents. The residents of Arborville respect the surrounding forest and watch over one of its main entrances for weary travelers and troublesome Pokémon poachers. According to animated series maps,[needs links] Arborville is located just north of Olivine City. Known residents of Arborville include Towa, Diana, and Mr. White.

It bears a remarkable similarity to Fortree City, a city in Hoenn that was featured in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire three years later. Just like Fortree City, all of Arborville's houses are built in trees.

History

Ash and his friends passed through Arborville after learning that the area was home to many rare wild Pokémon. They befriended Sam, a boy who had been transported 40 years into the future by Celebi. Before they could help him return to his own time they had to contend with the Iron-Masked Marauder, a Pokémon poacher intent on capturing Celebi. He succeeded in catching Celebi in a Dark Ball, corrupting the Pokémon into destroying the forest. However the group, Sam, the residents of Arborville, and Suicune worked together to defeat the Iron-Masked Marauder and free Celebi.
