Duck is a beast wrapped in mystery. Much in the manner of a choice cut wrapped in bacon, the whiff of rumor serves only to whet the appetite of Duck chasers seeking to sink their teeth into juicy truth.
While little is known about Duck, there are a few bedrock facts known about Duck. Duck is bipedal, with two feet, two wings, and a round, feathered body. Duck's diet consists primarily of bread and its droppings are perfect cubes of condensed bread.
Amateur Duck hunters often mistake Duck for its lesser forms. In truth, these forms are now different species, but once they were shapes that Duck decided to try for a time, until it decided that it didn't like them anymore. When Duck discards a shape, the shape takes on its own unholy life. This is one reason why Duck's true form is so sparsely documented.
Duck scholars disagree about the means by which Duck achieves flight. Most subscribe to a Pan theory, so named in an ancient tome. However, most details aside from the name were lost to the ages, so modern scholars disagree on the interpretation of this theory. They fall largely into two camps. One side insists that Duck uses latent psychic powers to levitate, and so Duck achieves flight by believing that it can. The other claims that Duck powers its flight from the bread it eats. They theorize that the yeast in bread not only creates gas bubbles, but also quantum bubbles which Duck has the unique ability to harness to counteract quantum gravity, thereby achieving flight. Some scholars in this camp are even known to carry around bags of crackers or other unleavened bread in the hopes that, if they ever chance across Duck, they can stuff it with quantally inert food, thereby cutting off its primary means of escape.
