This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Gold and Silver.
These pages follow the original Game Boy Color iteration, not Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 8

Route 8

Route 8 is a simple road that stretches between Saffron City and Lavender Town. Fight the three Bikers, who call themselves the Kanto Pokémon Federation, to continue eastward.

Lavender Town

Lavender Town

Lavender Town is still a small town, but it has been modernized somewhat by the conversion of the Pokémon Tower into the region's new Radio Tower.

Kanto Radio Tower

The tower security has been on alert ever since Johto's Radio Tower was taken over by Team Rocket, so visitors are restricted to the first floor. The Pokégear can already detect two of the three programs broadcasted here, but accessing the Poké Flute Channel requires an EXPN Card.

Program Host(s) Channel Description
Places and People Lily 16.5 A talk show that discusses various locations and Trainers encountered by the player.
Let's All Sing Fern 18.5 Broadcasts different music depending on the day of the week. The Pokémon MarchSuTuThSa increases the wild encounter rate, while the Pokémon LullabyMoWeFr decreases it.
Poké Flute Channel (no host) 20.0 Broadcasts Poké Flute music. Used to awaken the Snorlax near Vermilion City.

The Soul House

Soul House

The Soul House was built to accommodate the departed Pokémon from the former Pokémon Tower. There are several graves on the ground floor, and many more located in underground chambers that are off-limits to all but the caretaker, Mr. Fuji.

Name Rater

The Name Rater lives in the southeast house, and allows Trainers to rename any of their Pokémon. However, he cannot rename a Pokémon obtained in a trade.

Route 10 (south)

Route 10

The south side of Route 10 has only two Trainers between Lavender Town and Rock Tunnel. The Kanto Power Plant is located nearby, but can only be reached by surfing downriver from Route 9.

Rock Tunnel, 1F

Rock Tunnel, B1F

Rock Tunnel

Rock Tunnel is an undeveloped cave network that links Route 10 to Route 9. Rare Pokémon, displaced from the now-closed Safari Zone, can now be found inside. In addition, the inky darkness means that Flash is usable here.

1F

Walk straight ahead onto the platform to find TM47 (Steel Wing), then go west to reach an Elixer. Head east and take the ladder to the basement.

B1F

Head south to find a hidden Max Potion, then southeast to get a PP Up. Grab the Revive to the northeast, then climb the ladder to the east.

1F

Walk northwest to reach the next ladder.

B1F

Follow the path southward to reach a T-intersection. Go west to reach an Iron, then climb the ladder in the southeast corner.

1F

Check the dead-end path for a hidden X Accuracy, and follow the path to the exit.

Route 9

Route 9

Outside the tunnel's northern exit is a conveniently-placed Pokémon Center. Chat up the patrons inside to learn that the Kanto Power Plant's manager is looking for a strong Trainer to recover a stolen piece of equipment. Head up north to the canal, then swim southward to reach the building.

Route 10 (north)

Power Plant

The Power Plant

The old, abandoned Kanto Power Plant was recently renovated in order to power the region more efficiently. However, a thief has stolen an essential part of the new generator, forcing it offline. As you turn to leave, the security guard is alerted to a shady character that has been seen loitering around Cerulean City, and he asks you to check it out. Sail back northward and head west to reach the city.
