Aftermath (Japanese: ゆうばく Detonation) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Eight Pokémon can have this Ability.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with this Ability faints by damage from a move that makes contact, the attacker will lose ¼ of its maximum HP.

Outside of battle

Aftermath has no effect outside of battle.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, when the Pokémon faints, it sometimes causes an explosion similar to Selfdestruct, reducing HP by half on team members and by 40 on hostile Pokémon.
