Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur is a glitch Pokémon found in Diamond. It is usually encountered with the use of Action Replay. Generally, it is found when using a "walk through walls" code or a similar cheat. Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur is often found in Oreburgh Mine, Victory Road, or a wild double battle triggered by a "walk over water" cheat code. The name "invisible Shiny Bulbasaur" is derived from the fact that at the start of a battle it sparkles like a Shiny Pokémon and Bulbasaur's cry is heard, suggesting that it is a Shiny Bulbasaur.
-----, also known as DPBox is a Normal Glitch Pokémon in Diamond and Pearl. It has been dubbed "DPBox" by gamers due to its appearance, a white box with two vertical black lines on it. It is occasionally called the Generation IV Missingno. due to its blocky appearance.

Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur always appears at Level 0 with 0/0 HP, similar to ?????????? in Generation III. Its name appears as "dl dl..." appearing several times; a message displaying its name will have a glitched transition into the next message. It does not appear to have any usable attacks — in double battles, the only attack it can use is Struggle. It is apparently invisible, although it may have a sprite resembling -----'s (when it uses Struggle in a double battle, or when its animation occurs when it enters battle, the bottom of a sprite resembling -----'s is visible at the top of the screen).

If the player attempts to attack it, the game will assume there is no target and end the battle immediately. Sometimes, it cannot be directly attacked at all and the player must use an attack that affects both enemies. When selecting an enemy to attack, the button on the touch screen representing the invisible Shiny Bulbasaur has no sprite or name. An invisible Shiny Bulbasaur's shadow cannot be seen under it. Instead, the shadow is found beside the real Pokémon.
It will appear in a player's party if they attempt to enter a double battle with two fainted Pokémon, an egg, and a healthy Pokémon in that order in their party. The glitch does not work when using a Vs. Seeker to enter the double battle. When sent out, it will have Bulbasaur's cry and will sparkle as if it were a Shiny Pokémon. In the Japanese version, it is also obtainable in the wild by using a Japanese Action Replay.

Encountering invisible Shiny Bulbasaur
It can also appear when one "recruits" a partner Trainer (such as Riley) and leaves the area the partner is "supposed" to be in using a Walk Through Walls cheat; from there, the player must trigger a wild battle (a common method is to walk on water). This results in the partner (who was replaced by a placeholder partner when the player left the "recruitment area") sending out ----- as a placeholder Pokémon. In double battles, ----- copies the speed of its partner and changes all Pokémon's cries to Bulbasaur's cry. After every attack animation, its HP bar disappears. It has no usable attacks (although it may have glitch attacks) and it doesn't show up on the Pokémon screen.

By using the walk through walls code to walk over water, the player can trigger a wild double battle with an invisible Shiny Bulbasaur and a real Pokémon. The game, thinking that the player is traveling with a partner, will display two of the player's back sprite, one being the player and the "clone" being the nonexistent partner. The partner, whose name is either nothing more than a blank space or the player's name (saying "Pokémon Trainer ___ sent out..."), will send out a -----. If the ----- faints, the invisible Shiny Bulbasaur will consequently faint as well. If the player does not run, then after both real Pokémon have taken their turns, one of the glitches will attack the other with Struggle, causing both to faint (one from damage, the other from recoil).
To get rid of this glitch, place a Pokémon where it appears to be, that Pokémon will be deleted and ----- will become selectable (if another Pokémon is selected or even pointed ----- will become unselectable again), after that it can be released or placed in a box. If placed in the box, it will disappear when the PC is closed. Be cautious because if it isn't in the last slot when the party is full, the Pokémon that's placed where ----- is will be deleted and ----- will not be selectable. Also, if it is in the first slot, the game will freeze whenever the party is displayed.

Another way to encounter invisible Shiny Bulbasaur is by using the "walk through walls" cheat to leave Amity Square. Because of the walking Pokémon in Amity Square, the game will assume that the player is traveling with a partner, even after leaving. When entering a battle with a wild Pokémon after leaving Amity Square, the last trainer the player partnered with will appear beside the player, but they will use either an invisible Shiny Bulbasaur or a -----. The battle will be against one real wild Pokémon and an invisible Shiny Bulbasaur.
Interestingly, when using the infamous walk through anything code and going into a wild double battle, a variant of ----- called invisible Shiny Bulbasaur will be one of the two wild Pokémon.

It is also possible to obtain invisible Shiny Bulbasaur by using the instant egg code when two Pokémon are not in the daycare and then using the hatch eggs fast code to hatch an otherwise unhatchable egg. However, this often results in freezing the game.
It is also possible to clone items with -----.

The final way to encounter it is by using the Action Replay "Pokémon Modifier Code". When using the mod code, the player would normally type in the National Pokédex number of the Pokémon the player wants to encounter and press L. Then when he/she walks into grass, that Pokémon appears. To get invisible Shiny Bulbasaur the player would type in number "0" and then press L. An invisible Shiny Bulbasaur appears.
Japanese version
On very early versions of the Japanese Diamond and Pearl this glitch Pokémon could be seen without an Action Replay; the player had to have an egg as the first Pokémon in their party and any ordinary Pokémon in the second slot and enter a double battle.

In some rare cases, an Action Replay code input wrongly may cause a permanent roaming invisible Shiny Bulbasaur to appear.
When the battle started ----- would be visible and when attacked the game would give the message "But there was no target..."

Interestingly, in a wild double battle, invisible Shiny Bulbasaur copies its partner's Speed stat and replaces all participating Pokémon's cries (including -----'s) with a Bulbasaur's cry. After each attack animation, its HP counter disappears.
Other versions
In all versions of Diamond and Pearl and Platinum, ----- can be sent into battle by battling a trainer while the player's only Pokémon is fainted. This is possible through use of the Pomeg glitch.

Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur is essentially a Null (computer programming), which happens when an empty space in the party is called to battle, which is why the game doesn't read it as a real target.
xBgXbAErIRI

Also, if caught when there are five or less Pokémon in the party, it will take up the next empty slot in the party permanently. If the player tries to withdraw a Pokémon into that space, it will vanish.
Glitched partner Trainer
As was mentioned above, when one leaves the area where one "recruited" a partner Trainer, that Trainer is replaced by placeholder data. The reason is because when the player leaves the area, the game assumes that the player is no longer traveling with the partner and it changes all of the partner's data back to placeholder data. However, the game doesn't know that the player is still traveling with them, so when the player gets in a wild battle, the placeholder Trainer appears to assist the player.

Game data
The placeholder's Trainer back sprite is identical to the player's, and their only Pokémon is -----.

From this method, it can also be seen that its sprite is a duplicate of -----'s, only placed higher for some reason.

Trivia
Unknown
*In the American version of the game, ----- appears in Victory Road when the player walks over water with Marley.
*----- has been found to display a long name, repeating the last letter that appeared and overlapping three times as its name, before the player's Pokémon is sent out.
*Walking with a Pokémon in Amity Square is also read by the game as having a partner trainer, and can therefore be used to find ----- in wild double battles.
*When a Pokémon is used in battle, there is usually a message saying 'What will (Pokémon's name) do?' but when ----- is in battle, the message is 'Wh t ll do?' with small bits of glitched characters in the first two spaces.
*If ----- is the last Pokémon in the party, and the player tries to add a Pokémon to said party, the Pokémon from the box will have a party sprite with a different color palette. Then when the box is exited, the Pokémon will loom over the box and disappear from the party.
*If the player goes to Sandgem Town using the ‘Walk anywhere' cheat on an Action Replay DS without receiving their starter Pokémon from Professor Rowan's briefcase, ----- will appear in the player's party as their starter Pokémon when the Professor asks you if you would like to nickname it. The game will freeze if the player encounters a wild Pokémon with ----- as the first Pokémon in the player's party.
*----- can be found in the wild on a Japanese Platinum using the ‘Modifier' calculator cheat if the player does not write a number in the calculator, presses L, and runs in a Pokémon area (water, grass, cave floors, etc.). ----- cannot be caught though since it has no HP and it is at lv. 0 and the screen will display many Kanji and faint. It will look like this: {{Pokémon
