The "Pokémon Battle Tournament" section, like the XY039 article, claims that battles end when a Pokémon is touched, but this seems to be speculation to me — although Ash's battle with Tierno ended when Squirtle touched Froakie, the rule is not stated explicitly as far as I can tell.
