Ash's Pidgeot (Japanese: サトシのピジョット Satoshi's Pigeot) was the third Pokémon obtained by Ash Ketchum during his travels through the Kanto region. Its voice actor as Pidgeotto and Pidgeot in both Japanese and English is 林原めぐみ Megumi Hayashibara.
Ash caught it as a Pidgeotto in the Viridian Forest. It was Ash's first Flying-type Pokémon, but it was not used much; when it was, it was often to blow away Smokescreens and pop holes in Team Rocket's balloon.
After Ash returned to Pallet Town following the Indigo League, Ash encountered an old enemy. The Spearow Ash had tried to catch the first day of his journey had evolved into Fearow and was leading other wild Spearow in harassing the local Pidgey flock.
Pidgeotto evolved into Pidgeot and defeated the Fearow and Spearow, and Ash left it behind to guard the wild Pidgey. He promised to return for it after he was finished in the Orange Islands, a sentiment that he still hoped he could do in Fighting Flyer with Fire. However, Ash has yet to fulfill that promise.
