+:Probably because Lapras's mother is not the same coloration as the game's alternate coloration standards.  The game's standards have alternate-coloration Lapras as being purple.
+:On the flip side of the coin, keep in mind that the episode in question, while very late in the [[Pokémon:  The Adventures in the Orange Islands|Orange Islands]] [[arc]] (late enough in said arc to be part of season 3 in the dub, despite what Bulbapedia's warped standards on seasons, as well as more recent popular belief, imply; the theme song defines an ''arc'', not a ''season''), is still a [[Generation I]]-era episode, hence the game's alternate-coloration standards wouldn't apply to it.  Hence it could technically qualify as a slight color variation, given that this IS the Orange Islands after all...
