::Starters may not be the only ones who can follow, it seems safe to assume that it is possible there are many Pokémon that can follow, I came to this conclusion from the Ilex forest image that has been released, it shows your Pikachu coloured pichu outside of its Poké ball, this could possibly indicate that other Pokémon may be able to follow the player.
