 Rudy has something in common with the Mikan Gym Leader [[Cissy]], in that they both test the echniques of their various Pokémon.  Rudy has Ash's Squirtle use Water Gun in a sharpshooting test while aboard a moving boat that is heading to Trovita Gym.  However, Rudy's training techniques differ from other Gym Leaders that Ash has faced. He doesn't simply teach his Pokémon the most common attacks for their specific type; by using modern dance, he actually tries to improve their ability to learn.
