In rewatching the movie while going to a convention, I noticed some coincidences with elements from Gen 3. The tree city is styled similarly to Fortree City, there's a Celebi in a forest with corrupted Pokémon similar to Agate Village, corrupted Pokémon like Shadow Pokémon, and Celebi is healed by other Celebis like that special flute that summons Celebi to purify a Shadow Pokémon.
