Pikachu was used in the semi-finals of the [[Lumiose Conference]] in [[XY127]], where Ash chose him as his third Pokémon in his battle against Sawyer. He was sent out against Sawyer's powerful {{p|Clawitzer}}. Pikachu used the forest battle field to his advantage by climbing into the trees and jump from branch to branch in order to confuse Clawitzer. Despite this, Clawitzer was still able to dodge his Thunderbolt and Quick Attack by launching itself in the air. After dodging an Ice Beam, Pikachu launched an Electro Ball which collided with Clawitzer's Dragon Pulse.
