He went up against {{p|Bagon}} although he had a type-disadvantage. Pikachu's speedy Quick Attack was able to outmaneuver Bagon's {{m|Headbutt}}. After Thunderbolt and {{m|Dragon Breath}} collided in a draw, Pikachu jumped into the air and prepared to use Iron Tail, Sawyer had Bagon use {{m|Dragon Claw}} but it was overpowered by Iron Tail and Pikachu knocked the Rock Head Pokémon out.
-In [[XY078]], Pikachu, along with Ash and his friends, visit the [[Poké Ball Factory]].  While going there, they are tricked by Team Rocket who separates the group from their Poké Balls, with only Pikachu managing to escape. During a battle against his enemies, Pikachu got away from being recalled into his Poké Ball and hides into one of the vent shafts without them knowing. He first tried to free Ash and his friends with Iron Tail, but when that failed and Team Rocket saw him, he attempted to get the attaché case that held the group's Poké Balls. Meowth then chased after Pikachu, being the only one small enough to squeeze through the factory equipment and ventilation shafts that Pikachu escaped through, and continuously attempted to recall Pikachu into his Poké Ball. In the end, the Team Rocket trio attempted to escape with all the Poké Balls they stole. Then when they saw Ash and Pikachu were after them, they drove off fast, but Pikachu managed to stop their van with a Thunderbolt and Meowth challenged Pikachu to a one-on-one. Pikachu accepted and defeated his foe despite the Scratch Cat Pokémon attempting to use Pikachu's Poké Ball on him. After Team Rocket got blasted off again, the group were invited by the grateful Factory Staff to a real genuine tour of the factory.
