The main "issue" with Torchic is that its gender difference is ''so'' minor that it isn't easily noticable, so rather than seeing it and going "Oh, there are two different sprites" people go "Why are there two sets of sprites?" -Who removed the trivia point about Torchic being the first fire starter with no flames on its body? This trivia is perfectly valid because before Gen V, Torchic was the only Pokemon that broke this trend. Now Tepig does too, but that was also pointed out.
