Should it be noted that Eevee could have been easily confused as Gary's first pokemon because of it's introduction before Blastoise' debut? The justification would be that in pokemon yellow (which was based off the anime unlike Red/Blue/Green) your Rival has an Eevee as a starter pokemon. Gary was pretty cocky in the original series, he would have never admitted to Ash that he was late as well and missed out on one of the official starter pokemon. With this misdirecting info it would be easy for people to assume that Eevee could have been Gary's first until Sqirtle was confirmed to be his first. | |||
