Unova League: Difference between revisions

In the {{pkmn|anime}}, Trainers who collect eight Badges are eligible to enter Unova's {{pkmn|League Conference|championship competition}}, the [[Vertress Conference]]. As revealed in ''[[BW052|Ash Versus the Champion!]]'', the winner of this competition receives the right to participate in the Unova's {{DL|Pokémon League|Champion League}}.

The Unova League has a few differences from the games; due to {{Ash}}'s {{pkmn|journey}} in [[Unova]] only covering a single period of time in ''Pokémon the Series: Black & White'', the Unova [[region]] featured [[Gym Leader]]s from both major [[Generation V]] releases, having two Leaders [[Type expert|specializing]] in the {{t|Normal}} [[type]] in its roster, two who specialize in the {{t|Water}} type, and only one {{type|Dragon}} Leader.

During the course of the series, at least eleven Gym Leaders from the region were introduced, and some [[rival]]s, such as {{un|Cameron}} and [[Trip]], were shown to have gone through other unknown Gyms.

* In ''[[BW006|Dreams by the Yard Full!]]'', {{an|Cilan}} temporarily left his post as Gym Leader to go on a {{pkmn|journey}} with Ash, with his brothers [[Cress]] and [[Chili]] taking over the responsibilities of the [[Striaton Gym]].

* In ''[[BW067|Cilan Takes Flight!]]'', {{an|Miles}} was introduced as a former Gym Leader who had since retired and left the position for his granddaughter, [[Skyla]].

* In ''[[BW100|A Village Homecoming!]]'', it was revealed that [[Drayden]] had talked with the {{OBP|elder|Village of Dragons}} of the [[Village of Dragons]], recommending {{an|Iris}} to go on a journey, and about the possibility of Iris one day becoming the Gym Leader of the [[Opelucid Gym]]. Despite this, Drayden is still the current Gym Leader of [[Opelucid City]].

* In ''[[BW109|New Places... Familiar Faces!]]'', [[Cheren]] was revealed to be a new Gym Leader recently located at [[Aspertia City]], indicating that the Unova League was still expanding during that time.

In ''[[JN065|Thrash of the Titans!]]'', Iris was revealed to be the current {{pkmn|Champion}} of the Unova region and that [[Alder]] no longer held the position. In ''[[JN117|The Fiery Road to Mastership!]]'', it was mentioned that Iris gained her status after winning a battle that gave her the Champion title.
