Nurse Joy: Difference between revisions

Nurse Joy, like {{Ash}}, received a redesign when the {{series|Best Wishes}} began, as well as a change of clothes. All Nurse Joys in Unova have this new design - it is unknown if Nurse Joys from the past four regions, if they reappear, will retain their old design.

Although there are many exceptions, Nurse Joy will generally have {{TP|Nurse Joy|Chansey}} in [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], [[Hoenn]], [[Sinnoh]], and the [[Orange Archipelago]], and {{TP|Nurse Joy|Audino}} in [[Unova]], to assist her. Chansey's [[evolution]] introduced in [[Generation II]], {{p|Blissey}}, appears physically similar to Nurse Joy.  Further driving home the connection, Blissey's Japanese name can be taken to mean "Happy Nurse". Audino is not known to evolve; this may indicate a possible evolved form to be introduced in [[Generation VI]] or beyond.

There is a very distinct parallel between the families of Nurse Joy, [[Officer Jenny]], and [[Don George]]. This may indicate some sort of relation or deeper connection, and fans have sometimes speculated about such. However, the only thing known about the three families is that they are apparently on good terms.

In addition, Nurse Joys give out [[starter Pokémon]] to trainers in towns or cities without [[Pokémon Professor]]s. [[Slateport City]] is one such town. Adhering to their role as government workers, they are also inspectors for the [[Pokémon Inspection Agency]] grading Pokémon gyms.

Once it evolved, it could no longer be given away, and stayed in the Pokémon Center but it gained some trust by defeating [[Team Rocket]].

|desc=Nurse Joy of [[Pastoria City]] owns a {{p|Croagunk}} named '''Chrissy''' (Jp: '''グレミ''' ''Guremi''). Hamilton proposed his Croagunk, Craig, to Chrissy, but [[Brock]] broke into the argument, proposing his Croagunk to Chrissy. Later on,when Team Rocket invades, Chrissy defeats the mecha and is later pronounced winner of the Croagunk Festival because of this act.

|desc=A Nurse Joy from the [[Pokémon Inspection Agency]] owns a {{p|Latias}}. She was used to battle against [[Forrest]]'s {{p|Rhyperior}} in the [[Pewter Gym]], in order for her to determine whether the gym should be closed or not. It was hurt badly by Rhyperior's {{m|Megahorn}}, but it used {{m|Recover}} and countered with and {{m|Ice Beam}}. Latias was hurt over and over, by multiple {{m|Dig}}-Megahorn combinations throughout the battle. However, with multiple {{m|Steel Wing}} attacks and an Ice Beam, Latias finished off Rhyperior.

 

Nurse Joy was however, impressed by Forrest's skill and spared the Pewter Gym.

|desc=Squirtle is one of the Pokémon owned by the [[Pokémon League entrance exam instructor]].  It appeared under Nurse Joy's command, battling the instructor's {{p|Charmander}} it put up a good fight, it is unknown who won.

|desc=Nurse Joy befriended a {{p|Gyarados}} when it was a [[Giant Pokémon|giant]] {{p|Magikarp}}. It first appeared as a Magikarp when it jumped out of the water in front of {{Ash}} and [[Ash's friends|his friends]]. Nurse Joy appears and feeds it tablets saying the Pokémon that live on the islands are too small for a [[Pokémon Center]] and need medicine if sick. It was later revealed that Nurse Joy has known Magikarp since she was small and found it washed up on the shore, she later cared for it as it grew and grew. It later appeared when [[Team Rocket]] captured Ash and his friends including Nurse Joy, stopping them from helping a very sick {{p|Seel}}. Magikarp appeared ramming Team Rocket's [[Team Rocket's mechas|sub]], it then suddenly [[Evolution|evolved]] into a Gyarados and sent Team Rocket blasting off and freeing the group.}}

|desc={{ho|Stephanie}}'s {{p|Mudkip}} was looked after by {{Ash}} and [[Max]]. At first it seemed to be a crybaby but was looked after by [[Brock's Mudkip]], in the end everything turned out fine and it was picked by Stephanie as her [[Starter Pokémon]].

|desc=[[Stephanie's father]]'s {{p|Treecko}} was looked after by {{Ash}} and [[Max]]. She seemed to take a liking to [[Ash's Treecko]] in that she held something in her mouth, in her case a flower. In the end everything turned out fine and she was picked by Stephanie's father because she had nowhere to go.
