Vaporeon (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Vaporeon's origins are uncertain, though it could be based on a cross between aquatic creatures, {{wp|Felidae|felines}}, and {{wp|canid}}s. The fins and dorsal lining may be based on different types of {{wp|tropical fish}}. Its ears resemble a mix between a fish's fin and a {{wp|fennec fox}}'s ears. Its tail also shares characteristics with {{wp|mermaid}}s or {{wp|dolphin}}s. Vaporeon may also be inspired by the {{wp|Telchines}} of Greek mythology, or the {{wp|Merlion}}, a national symbol of {{wp|Singapore}}. Its ability to become invisible and turn into water might be inspired by the {{wp|Asrai}}. Vaporeon's resemblance to both carnivorans and cetaceans could be based on {{wp|Evolution of cetaceans|primitive whales}}, such as ''{{wp|Kutchicetus}}''. Its fringe around its neck resembles a {{wp|ruff_(clothing)|ruff}} and gives it some semblance of a {{wp|lion}}.
