What you said is false as it's precised in Pikachu's article, the poké ball with the lightning bolt have been left empty: look at ep001 and 005 when Ash tries to recall Pikachu in a regular Poké Ball (the same situation happened to Gary's Blastoise: its Poké Ball has been left empty meaning that Gary's Blastoise has an another Poke Ball, certainly Gary choosed one of the six Poké Ball that Oak gave to him to be Blastoise's Poké ball and same thing for Ash's Pikachu).
