Genesect may be generally based on the giant insects of the {{wp|Paleozoic}} era, although its Steel-type features give it a somewhat robotic appearance. The crest on its head resembles a laser gun or other man-made weapon. The fact that it has existed for 300,000,000 years is identical to that of {{wp|cockroach|cockroach}}es.
