Heck, for a better example, in the movie "Independence Day", the President (and most of his cabinet, even the Pentagon leader) didn't even know that Area 51 existed, and most of the lower military officers (or, at least, some of the surviving lower military officers) knew perfectly well that it did exist (For example, Cpt.
