The Soul Dew (Japanese: こころのしずく Soul Dew) is a type of held item introduced in Generation III. In Generations III to VI, it boosts the Special Attack and Special Defense of Latios and Latias; from Generation VII onwards, it boosts the power of their Psychic- and Dragon moves instead.

Soul Dew (Japanese: こころのしずく Soul Droplet) is a held item obtainable in Ruby and Battle Revolution. It is found held by a wild Latios or Latias (depending on version) that resides on Hoenn's Southern Island, and it may be purchased for 14,400 Poké Coupons from the Mystery Gift shop in Pokémon Battle Revolution once the player has completed Stargazer Colosseum. It raises the Special Attack and Special Defense of Latios or Latias by 50% when held. Because of this rather incredible boost (compare Choice Specs which lock moves for a 50% Special Attack boost, or Gems which are consumed after giving a 50% boost), it has been banned from official tournaments. If used in the Battle Tower, Battle Hall or Battle Subway, the Soul Dew's effect is nulled out. Because Poké Transfer bars the transport of Pokémon with held items to Black and White, the Soul Dew is currently unobtainable in Generation V through any legitimate means.
Prior to Generation VII, it was banned from official tournaments, Random Matchup, the Battle Subway, the Battle Institute, almost all PWT tournaments, and the Battle Maison. In Generation III and IV, if used in the Battle Tower or Battle Frontier, the Soul Dew's effect is nullified. With the change in effect in Generation VII, it is now allowed to be used in official tournaments, Battle Spot, and battle facilities.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, if the player has received the Enigma Stone from a Nintendo Event, the player can take it to Steven Stone in the Pewter Museum of Science, who will have a researcher analyze it who finds out that it really is the Soul Dew. After he confirms it, the player will go outside the Museum with Steven Stone and will be able to  battle one of the Eon Pokémon, depending on the game version (Latios in HeartGold or Latias in SoulSilver).

In the anime, it appeared in the movie Pokémon Heroes, in which it is used to guard Johto's Alto Mare. It was given to an old couple in Alto Mare long ago after Latios and Latias saved the city. The Team Rocket duo Annie and Oakley were looking for the Soul Dew as well as the two legendary guardians of the city, Latios and Latias. If it is attached to the Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare (DMA), anyone using the device can drown the city in water, block all exits in the city and awaken the fossil Pokémon, Kabutops and Aerodactyl. It is implied that the Soul Dew contains the soul of a deceased Latios.
The Soul Dew appeared in Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias, where it is used to guard Johto's Alto Mare. It was given to an old couple in Alto Mare long ago after a Latios and a Latias saved the city from an evil force attacking it, and was subsequently hidden in the Secret Garden.

In the movie, Annie and Oakley searched for the Soul Dew as well as the two current Legendary guardians of the city, Latios and Latias. If the Soul Dew is attached to the Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare, anyone using the device can drown the city in water, block all exits in the city, and awaken the Fossil Pokémon Kabutops and Aerodactyl in the city museum. However, doing this will also result in the Soul Dew using up all of its power and disappear. It is implied that this Soul Dew contains the soul of a deceased Latios.

During the climax of the movie, the original Soul Dew was destroyed, but a new one was created when Latios sacrificed his life to save Alto Mare from a massive tidal wave, using his own spirit to create a replacement for the destroyed gemstone.

Soul Dew (Theater VS Pack 16)
Soul Dew was introduced as a Trainer card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the Japanese e-Card Era. Released in the Theater Limited VS Pack half deck, it features an illustration by Hiromichi Sugiyama. This Trainer card allows the player to search their deck for a Pokémon with Alto Mare in its name and add it to their Bench; they may also move an Energy card from another of their Pokémon to the new Pokémon before shuffling their deck.

* Due to being unable to transfer held items via Poké Transfer, and no means of obtaining the items being in Black and White, the Soul Dew and Stat-enhancing item are currently unobtainable in Generation V.
