'''Route 24''' is a north-south route north of [[Cerulean City]], linking the burg with {{rt|25}} to the north. Most of Route 24 encompasses the [[Nugget Bridge]] (Japanese: '''ゴールデンボールブリッジ''' ''Golden Ball Bridge''), a location where five {{pkmn|trainers}} will challenge the {{player}} one by one and, upon defeating every trainer on the bridge, a disguised [[Team Rocket Grunt|Rocket Grunt]] will reward the player with a [[Nugget]] and then offer the player a position in [[Team Rocket]]; however, the player automatically refuses and fights the grunt.

The actual southern terminus of the [[route]] is at the southern extent of the [[Nugget Bridge|bridge]]. Route 24 follows the length of the bridge north, running parallel to an express path to the east that originates on [[Route 25]], allowing {{pkmn|trainers}} to travel from [[Cerulean Cape]] to [[Cerulean City]](but not vice versa) quickly.

At the northern end of the bridge, the route opens up at a virtual three-way intersection. To the west is a long, narrow strip of land that contains Route 24's lone patch of grass containing a trainer and [[wild Pokémon]]. This location also serves as the docking platform for a water body that leads to an otherwise unaccessible portion of {{rt|4}}, as well as [[Cerulean Cave]] northwest of Cerulean.

To the north of the bridge is a small plateau containing a variety of [[Item|items]] and people, with the actual contents varying not only by [[Generation]], but also by [[Pokémon games|game]] version. In [[Generation I]], [[TM45]], containing {{m|Thunder Wave}}, is found here. Additionally, in {{game|Yellow}}, a non-battling trainer is found here, offering his {{p|Charmander}} to any trainer that will provide better care for him. In [[Generation II]], no items are present; however, a tree containing a hidden item is present. Finally, in [[Generation III]], TM45, now holding {{m|Attract}}, is found here.

In [[Generation II]], the [[Nugget Bridge]] {{pkmn|trainers}} are no longer present. Instead, the challenge has moved to [[Route 25]]. Also, the grassy area along the narrow strip of land has been reduced by half, allowing the lower portion to become a grass-free docking station.

In [[Generation IV]], Route 24 is nearly identical in structure to [[Generation III]] with the exception of a few minor changes. The trainers on the Nugget Bridge are no longer present and have moved their challenge to Route 25 and the territory that Route 24 occupies is the same as Generation II. Another change is that the bridge is above the water, allowing players to travel underneath the bridge. There is also a tiny strip of land in front of a fence that goes along the path to the right of the bridge.

Route 24 debuted in ''[[PS009|...But Fearow Itself]]'' in the [[Red, Green & Blue chapter (Adventures)|Red, Green & Blue chapter]] where it is revealed that {{adv|Red}} had caught a {{p|Bellsprout}}. Red tried to capture a peculiar looking {{p|Ratatta}} which turned out to actually be [[Bill]].
